FA Cup Draw Show

The FA Cup Live Draw Show brought fans closer than ever to the magic of the cup! Co-produced with the FA, this interactive watchalong featured celebrity guests, football influencers, live player reactions, and fan engagement as the official FA Cup draw unfolded. The show turned what was once a routine watch on TV into a must-watch live experience that would resonate with modern football audiences.

Hosted by Spencer Owen and Jules Breach, with ex players like Micah Richards and Peter Crouch alongside personalities like Chris Stark, and Alex Brooker, the show had a relaxed, unscripted vibe that allowed for plenty of banter and free-flowing conversation.

Produced from a London studio designed with a casual living room aesthetic, the show incorporated remote feeds from guests around the UK and inside the Wembley draw itself. The official draw, broadcast by the BBC, was seamlessly integrated picture-in-picture, giving viewers the unique experience of watching the draw unfold while enjoying live reactions from our panel. Through live video calls, we brought in players from clubs around the country to get their immediate reactions to their team’s draw, adding an authentic, emotional layer to the broadcast. This was the first time a fully interactive watchalong of the FA Cup Draw had been produced exclusively for social media, setting a new precedent for engaging football content.

The production featured a 5-camera setup, including a roaming camera, and integrated remote contribution feeds. Alex.Live built a custom real-time graphics package, powered by Singular.Live in the cloud, that instantly reacted to the unpredictable draw, dynamically updating with the correct teams as they were drawn.

Fan engagement was at the heart of the production. Our Alex.Live Social Dock was used to pull in live tweets, and display them on stream in the FA’s custom graphic template, creating a truly interactive experience, while YouTube polls allowed viewers to participate and voice their opinions throughout the show.

The response was phenomenal. One episode alone racked up over 1.5 million views on Twitter, and the FA was thrilled with both the production quality and the way we collaborated to produce a standout series.

This innovative format delivered on its goal of modernising the FA Cup draw and engaging with a new generation of football fans.
