The Big 6ix Studio Build

The Big 6ix has become one of the most popular football channels on YouTube, pulling in tens of thousands of fans each week. But until now, their productions were limited by the constraints of renting a studio week-to-week. That meant no consistent visual identity, inconsistent production values, and frequent technical hurdles. The Big 6ix needed a home of their own, one that could match the scale of their growing brand and give them the freedom to go live whenever they wanted.

That’s where Alex.Live came in.

The Challenge

The new studio had to be built inside a compact basement measuring just 3.4 metres wide. Within that footprint we needed to comfortably seat six presenters, house a full gallery and still keep the system simple enough for a single operator to run. The task was not only to fit everything into a tight space but to deliver a broadcast-grade studio that would raise the production quality of The Big 6ix while also setting them up for future growth.

The Solution

In less than two months from the first email the new studio was designed, built, tested and handed over complete with full team training. The space was transformed into a broadcast-quality environment with cameras from Blackmagic Design forming the backbone of the video workflow. Three Studio Camera 4K Pro G2’s were accompanied by a Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 mounted directly to the monitor trolley to save space, a small but crucial decision that allowed us to maximise every centimetre of the room.

Audio was delivered through DPA lavalier microphones paired with a Behringer X32 rack mixer, giving the presenters a clean, professional sound. For control we designed a gallery system that is intuitive and requires only one operator. At the centre of it sits an Elgato Stream Deck which powers the entire production. With this single control surface the team can control lights, audio, video switching, recording, streaming and talent talkback, making the workflow both seamless and robust.

All of the core equipment was rack mounted and hidden from view, keeping the studio clean and professional while simplifying the job of the producer. We worked with our trusted partners to bring the studio to life, with Amrita Bisla leading the bespoke set design and Iain Slater creating a dynamic lighting package that perfectly complements the set and talent.

Perhaps the biggest leap forward came in the content workflows. With Alex.Live’s live clipping system integrated directly into the studio, the team’s remote editor can access the feed in real time inside Premiere Pro, Final Cut or DaVinci Resolve, from anywhere in the world. This means key moments can be clipped as they happen and pushed out across social platforms, while full highlights packages can be delivered immediately after the broadcast ends.

The Result

The first live show from the new studio received hugely positive reactions from fans, with many commenting on the impressive new set and upgraded production values. For The Big 6ix team, the finished space exceeded expectations. Creative Director Matt described the setup as transformative and the presenters are excited to finally have a permanent home that matches the ambition of their channel.

The studio not only raises the quality of every broadcast but also future proofs the brand. The team can now go live at the touch of a button, allowing them to react instantly to breaking football news. More efficient workflows mean they can create more content in less time, while the professional setup opens the door to new formats, sponsorships and brand partnerships.

For The Big 6ix this marks a major step forward. They now have a permanent home designed to grow with their audience, built to broadcast standards and ready to support the next stage of their journey as one of YouTube’s biggest football talk shows.
